JANUARY- FEBRUARY 2012 NEWSLETTER
Dear Fellow Caledonians
Welcome to a bright NEW YEAR! May you enjoy good health, happy days and many pleasant surprises throughout 2012. Following a well-supported St Andrew’s Dinner and an excellent service at St Paul’s Presbyterian Church during November, the public was treated to the sound of the bagpipe and Highland dancing in front of the City Hall with the Saltire proudly flying overhead on St Andrew’s Day. We are most grateful to the City Council for allowing us the privilege of celebrating in this way each year. Hogmanay again proved successful and was much enjoyed by all. Burn’s Supper is upon us and this will also be the official visit of the Chieftain and Lady President of the Cape Province, our very own Elliot and Cynthia Murray. Please book as soon as possible for Saturday 21st January 2012 at 7 pm. We will meet in the Oakroom, Parklands 74 Jarvis Road, Berea for a delicious meal and fine entertainment. Tickets are R80.00 per person (children under 10 R40.00). Phone Sandra (043 726 1500) before Wednesday 18th January. Remember to bring your own drinks and glasses!
Stirling Presbyterian Church has invited the Caledonians to attend early morning worship on Sunday 22nd January at 7.30 am. A piper or two will be in attendance and the Provincial Chieftain will receive a special blessing in his home church. Your support would be much appreciated. A Valentine’s Tea is scheduled for Saturday 18th February at 10.00 am. St Andrew’s Club has been a popular venue in the past and we will confirm this in the next newsletter. In the meantime, please make up your tables by inviting your friends to join you at R30.00 a head. Tea and entertainment will be provided plus lucky draws and lots of fun. Profits will go to the Eastern Cape Highland Gathering to be held in East London on the 7th April this year. Sandra looks forward to receiving your bookings. Phone 043 726 1500.
