Hi to all our members and friends, although back at the computer I am still recovering from the Hip Replacement so working short time and all is well. Thank you to all the members and friends who enquired on a daily basis, Ivan thought he was working in a call centre.
Our Easter Function went off well our thanks to Mike, Elisabeth, Andrew, Jean and all the others who saw that the function ran smoothly. In the Picture Lorna collects the prize for “Best Hat” from Norma, for yet another year. More Pictures are on facebook.
The Easter function was followed by “Intercontinental Day” at Turffontein Race Course. Our Horse came in 4th giving St Mary’s Home R5000.00 Jolly good show. Last year 7th this year 4th maybe next year 1st let’s hope so. After the initial hiccups we finally got the Tea Garden up and running, a bit too late to come out on the right side (profit wise). Barr’s Irn-Bru and the other goodies saved the day and were all but sold out. I have to thank the Ladies who as usual excelled in cooking the Scotch Sausage and Bacon Butties. A great day out, with attendances exceeding last years. Once again to all those who turned out to help set up and take down the décor, bring the cake and shortbread, a big thanks, without you this type of event would be impossible.
Pictures are all published on facebook.
Next up is “The Celtic Fest” 11th-12th and 13th of May at Modderfontein. It opens Friday Evening with “Haggis and Bong”. Saturday is the Gathering and then Sunday is Solo’s and Choirs. It is R60.00 entry per day, which includes the evening Entertainment or you can buy a 3 Day Ticket for R150.00.
