Chief Tommy Soutar.

Dear Fellow St Andrews Members and friends. As we start another year, we ran into a few hic-ups, with Congress being moved to the end of September we were unable to hold our official Chiefs Night, this we will now combine with St Andrews Nicht on the 30th of November the actual day we celebrate out Patron Saint. There will be more details later as to food etc. It will be a Formal Function.

Before that on the 21st September Herbert Park will be holding The Border Boys Parade, to which all sections of Herbert Park are expected to participate in. Parking will be via the back gate from 10am. Proceedings will start at 1pm with the Moths Parade the programme is attached below they will be led by Glen Allen Pipe Band. There will be a Wreath laying during the order of service, anyone is invited to participate in the wreath laying. After the conclusion of the programme there will be a short break for anyone requiring refreshments from the bar.

You are then invited to participate in the re-dedication of The Garden Of Remembrance at the top of the Bowling Green there you are welcome to plant a Cross in remembrance of anyone not necessary a member of Herbert Park.

Afterwards we should have some entertainment in the bar and in the hall good old sing along music from the War Years. This September is the 80th Anniversary of the Declaration of War against Germany, 3rd September 1939 Britain and France, on 6th September General Smuts declared South Africa officially at war with Germany.

The Moths, Glen Allen Pipe Band, The Finial Few Bikers, will all be in attendance. Last year only Mark and I represented St Andrews, and Elisabeth Langa and Ashton the Scouts (after I requested her to on the Friday night) Lets make an effort to show our solidarity with Herbert Park, it is our home. Food will be on sale from our now fully operational kitchen “Good Food Great Prices” (Marks recommendation)

A Halloween will be announced shortly which will be held in conjunction with Herbert Park

It was decided at the AGM that we would hold our Traditional Functions, Federation Welcome, St Andrews Night, Burns Nicht and Chiefs Night on our own, with other sections invited to participate, all other functions would be held with the other sections of Herbert Park.

For all going to Congress promises to be a great time meeting up with old friends, people going away for the short Holiday Travel Safely and enjoy.

Tommy Soutar (Chief)
